Corelli sings Nessun Dorma

While there are many versions around of Corelli singing Nessun Dorma, this one, I believe, is his most powerful. He seems to want to hold the high B at the end forever.

Samuel Ramey in one of his signature pieces, Old Man River from Showboat. Ramey performed this often during his career dating back to his days as a student at Wichita State University. This performance is from a Lincoln Center broadcast "Flicka and Friends". April 18, 1990.

Need a little inspiration? Fabulous performance from the 1993 Kennedy Center Honors. First few seconds were clipped in the original recording.

Schöne Version. Keep rollinʼ along!
Samuel Ramey extraordinário. Uma voz impecável, um verdadeiro baixo. Me faz lembrar Ezio Pinza outro grande baixo da primeira metade do século XX.
MAGNIFICENT!!! BRAVO!!!
Songs about someone who lost a loved one in your life
eyes too close!
The Goat
Great voice--but the tempo is too slow.
Wow what a great rendition of this beautiful song. Stunning so sad we can’t see the whole thing these days I loved this musical
I'm telling my kids this was a black man.
Amazing, Just a fantastic rendition of a GREAT SONG!!!
He is a Bass. I am a Bass Baritone (say Robeson). Just different (85 years old started learning how to sing February 2019, forced to retire). This was the first song my coach had me try. . When I hit the D4 it is a pure tenor quality. I tried this song Sunday and the audience went Wow. I will sing this at the Bebop (night club in Boston Ma. The host calls me the legend of Bebop, I warm up the open mic Thursday 7 pm.) I have to sing My Way as some people come to just hear that. The low notes are Bass Baritone but it is the F#4 the audience gives spontaneous applause (dramatic tenor).
I'm a tenor and can do this lower.
Fiver you can't
F on the bottom to F on the top 3+ octaves is not a big deal. Many baritones have a good range.@@johnnyd3387
@dougcard5241 Maybe lower, but you sound like a munchkin compared to Ramey!😅
I can do the intro much lower and full. Funny that he doesn't have a low speaking voice when it makes perfect sense.
I thought it might be useful to know that the Broadway Musical, "Showboat" was written by Jerome Kern and Oscar Hammerstein. It was based on a book called "Showboat" which in and of itself was written by Edna Ferber. There is also something that might even catch someone's interest in the book there is a real description of what the showboat really was. It was a boat that had no paddle wheel nor do I believe it was self-sustaining. It was tugged if you will all along the Mississippi and Ohio rivers so folks could enjoy themselves and as well be culturally enriched.
Best version was by William Warfield
OMG, this man is beyond excellent. Wow!
how much is left in this country for MP's to sell off, they have pot this country right in the sh£t and have no brans to get us out
as good as it gets
Klasse. Gesungenl🎉😅🎉😅🎉😅
This is wonderful and Ramey of course is one of the best singers of the last century - but please listen to Lawrence Winters. His recording in my opinion is unmatched until today.
Oh my goodness brilliant stuff
I saw Sam Ramey in Mefistopholie, he was mesmerizing on stage, that voice is magnificent.
An amazing voice, Paul Robson's is the only version i have heard that is better.
Can't believe that a human being has such artistry. AI should capture her voice for future use for the recording industry.
impressive for sure
That's Henry Lewis conducting!!!
when i listen to her sing the hair on the back of my neck stands up and i get covered in goose bumps.......too bad she was so difficult to deal with
Maravilhoso!
No one sings it better! I play it everyday. It gets me motivated
It's weird I never thought a person could copy Paul Robesons voice so accurately. But Paul's is still the best
remarcable...what a gift of a voice!
That was fucking amazing.
Wow, the beast from over the garden wall can really sing.
I have always wished to sing this unbelievable testimony even if irrelevant here,
What a superb performance!
who at soon
There are no words to describe Mr. Ramey's rendition... just beautiful and powerful. ♥
Same guy voices The Beast in "Over the Garden Wall"
Thank you ✌🏻🤝🏻❤️
One of the greatest of the great basso profundi.
It's time for her to receive her Kennedy Center Honors🎉
Wow, I had no idea Ramey could make the transition from classical opera to popular musical genre. Still, nobody tops the incredible Paul Robeson.
Mr Ramey knocked it out of the ballpark.. Great job..
genial
A flawless rendition of this classic.
I have had the pleasure of listening to Paul Robeson sing this very same song "Old Man River" from the Broadway Musical Showboat now sung here by Samuel Ramey and to be frank this particular recording by Samuel Ramey is truly outstanding. It is a wow!
IMO, Robeson's one equal!
William Warfield does a beautiful version of this song.
@@jayaCatLvr-ys5ix That is very right about William Warfield, I twice gave your comment a thumbs up because this is that moving a song. I think we are drawn here because of the likes of Samuel Ramey, Paul Robeson, and William Warfield, and let us not forget that the Broadway Musical "Showboat" is the vehicle where these voices as talented as they are have provided all who have had the pleasure to hear such as we have here. I'am impressed. Thank You @jayaCatLvr-ys5ix because this is a pleasure.

Oh my god! What a voice, brought a huge lump to my throat just listening to him. Perfect pacing and speed throughout the song brings out the emotions so well!
One of my all time favorites
I will be forever annoyed at the people who prevented me from seeing Mr. Ramey in Mephistopheles in Paris in September, 2001. But I have seen Morris Robinson perform in Showboat, so that was a good second.
Wow! Aside from my favorite, William Warfield from the original movie, this gentleman was absolutely astounding! One of the best versions I've ever heard.
William Warfield did of course sing this beautifully, but there was actually an earlier filming of Show Boat in 1936, which I've always considered superior to the MGM version, more of the actual story is told plus the addition of actual speaking roles for the Black members of the cast.
